A doctor at the University of Pennsylvania has discovered a new way to fight cancer by injecting a young girl with HIV…………
Dr. Carl June of the Perelman School of Medicine recently treated 6-year-old Emma, a terminal cancer patient. Emma’s last chance at recovery was a radical T cell procedure which used an altered form of HIV to attack tumor cells. Emma didn’t have any other options so Dr. June injected Emma with HIV.
So does that mean Emma now has HIV? No. The virus has been engineered so it can’t cause disease anymore, but it’s “reprogrammed” to attack tumor cells. As for Emma, today she lives a normal, healthy life and her Leukemia is gone.
