Guy Ritchie is nearing a deal that would see him direct a live-action remake of the animated Disney classic Aladdin. Ritchie, who is best known for his stylish crime films like Snatch, Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, Revolver, and the Robert Downey Jr. Sherlock Holmes franchise. Remember Aladdin?

 

 

We imagine Ritchie’s take will be a grittier more action packed version?

This remake joins the long list of animated Disney films to get the live-action treatment. Just in the past few years Disney has released live-action remakes of Alice In Wonderland (and a sequel), Cinderella, Pete’s Dragon, The Jungle Book, Maleficent, and the upcoming Beauty & The Beast.

These live-action remakes are big moneymakers fro the House of Mouse. Maleficent made $758-million, Cinderella $543-million, The Jungle Book $966-million, Pete’s Dragon $132-million, Alice In Wonderland $1.02-million.
