Returning for a 13th year,  you’re invited to the Kingdom of Mearth, for food, music, costumes, games and live entertainment. This year’s theme is all about “superstitions”! Striking Out Breast Cancer

100 Inning Fundraiser

The SWAT and Red Caps Slo-Pitch teams will put their baseball skills on display for their Striking Out Breast Cancer “100 Inning Fundraiser” - Saturday September 11th at the Ayr Community Centre. They’ll take the field for 100 consecutive innings to help raise money for the CIBC Walk for the Cure. For more information call 519-260-0455.

Mini Winners Walk of Hope

Take Steps to Overcome a Silent Disease

Join others and take steps to overcome a silent disease during the Mini Winners Walk of Hope. Bring your friends and family to Victoria Park Gazebo on Sunday September 12th and help raise funds to overcome ovarian cancer!  Registration is free to all participants and proceeds benefit Ovarian Cancer Canada. 

Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) is urging people to respond to the disaster in Pakistan where a fifth of the country is now under water and the number of deaths and homeless continue to climb. MCC welcomes donations and is forwarding funds to trusted and experienced agencies working in Pakistan. 

 

Donations can be made by calling your nearest MCC office at 1-800-313-6226 or online at mcc.org. Cheques should be designated “Pakistan Flood Relief “and can be mailed to 50 Kent Ave. Kitchener, ON N2G 3R1 or dropped off at your nearest MCC Thrift Shop or Mennonite Savings and Credit Union branch.

Wednesday September 15th marks the first annual Day of Caring here in Waterloo Region. It kicks off the fall Workplace Campaign and starts at Waterloo Public Square from 8:00am to 9:00am. The Day of Caring connects community members with community projects, and this year's goal to connect 21 volunteer teams with 21 community projects.

Each year, the JA Achievement Business Achievement Awards honour local businesses which have excelled or made an outstanding community contribution. The Waterloo Region derives many benefits from these "champions". Local companies develop new products, distribute them worldwide and provide employment to thousands. They donate money to worthy causes, sponsor scholarships and support community events making Waterloo Region one of the best places to live in Canada!
