Talk about a Christmas miracle!  After an entire year, Ed Sheeran is back (somewhat) and dropped a new song, Afterglow.  Less than 24 hours before the release of his new record, Ed posted the cover art on Instagram with the caption reading, “11am GMT tomorrow.  A Christmas present.”

Following Afterglow‘s release, Ed posted a snippet from his performance video on Instagram along with a message to the fans, “Hey guys. Afterglow is a song I wrote last year that I wanted to release for you. It’s not the first single from the next album, it’s just a song I love, and hope you love too. Enjoy ! Have a safe and happy festive break and New Year’s. Back to dad land for me now, ciao x.”

Afterglow, which is the follow-up to Ed’s No.6 Collaborations Project (2019), was co-written by David Hodges and FRED, and comes less than four months after Ed announced the birth of his daughter, Lyra Antarctica.
