Elton John is celebrating the 50th anniversary of his holiday song, “Step Into Christmas.” It was originally released as a stand-alone single in 1973, with “Ho, Ho, Ho (Who’d Be a Turkey at Christmas)” on the B-side.

The track was intended to be an audio holiday card for his fans following the monumental release of his album, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. “Step Into Christmas” was recorded on a Sunday and released less than a week later.

The song is the center point of a newly released digital, Step Into Christmas EP, featuring Elton’s top holiday hits.
