Nothing beats warming up with a nice cup of hot chocolate.  If you plan on entertaining or just want to hot chocolate on the ready, try making it in your crockpot!    This homemade holiday treat will be perfect after tobogganing with the family or curling up to watch your favourite Christmas movie.

Don’t have a crockpot?  No worries!  You can easily make this reciepe on the stovetop, just use a large stock pot and keep it on low, making sure to stir it often until the chocolate is melted. You want to make sure it doesn’t burn on the bottom.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups milk (whole milk is best)
  • 2 x cans evaporated milk
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Mix all the ingredients together in crockpot. Cook on low for 4-6 hours.  The first hour of cooking make sure you stir often – you want to avoid the chocolate burning on the bottom.
  • In the 30 minutes before serving, add marshmallows to the crockpot. They’ll get all melty and yummy! Use a ladle to serve hot chocolate into mugs, then top with all of your favorite hot chocolate toppings. * If you don’t like marshmallows, you can try using whipped cream as your topping instead.
