Madonna is scheduled to perform the biggest show of her career at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on May 4th. The concert will be free of charge and broadcast live on TV Globo. Madonna’s team has decided to offer the concert as a thank-you to her fans for the celebration of her more than four decades as a pop icon.

The current record for the most attended concert of all time at Copacabana is Rod Stewart’s 1994 New Year’s Eve performance with an estimated audience of 4.2 million people. The Rolling Stones drew 1.5 million in 2006.

Madonna’s “Celebration Tour” is set to commemorate her four decades in music with shows scheduled in several cities in the US and Mexico City before wrapping up in Brazil.
